This week, Jon Caramanica visits Soho grooming shop MiN New York, where he finds himself bewildered by the dazzling array of scents on offer. Without a guide, he writes, "I was smelling foie gras and street construction, or the seal tank at the aquarium and an Arby’s. Who could tell? This was graduate-level shopping, watching TV in a foreign language, blindfolded darts." Luckily, store "nose" Mindy Yang appears to help him, and he soon finds some fragrances that might fit into his life more easily than the half-empty bottle of Ralph Lauren Safari for Men that he's been moving from apartment to apartment since graduating from college.
