Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The Empire Hotel clearly loves the fact that Fashion Week has appeared on its doorstep. Last season, which was the first time the shows took place at Lincoln Center, the hotel introduced their Fashion Week ambassadors, a fleet of concierges stationed in the lobby to provide people with maps, show information, and (per the publicist, and by the way we love this) "kits for any fashion mishaps."
This time around, the ambassadors are back, and they've got a uniform: A little black and gold cocktail dress based on the hotel's interior and designed by NYFW mainstay Rebecca Taylor. After fashion week, Taylor will team with the hotel to auction off the dresses for an as-yet-to-be-determined charity. In the meantime, anyone who desperately needs Band-Aids or a safety pin should head to the lobby between 6am to 11pm all Fashion Week long. The hotel will also provide show-goers with survival equipment of another sort: The $15 "Rebecca's Royal Empire" cocktail, available at the lobby bar.
