Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Welcome to Drunk Shopping, our feature celebrating the time-honored tradition of getting totally wasted while the sun's still shining before buying a bunch of debatably useful stuff that the sober you would be too timid or too restrained to take home. Each Friday we'll cobble together a new itinerary starting you off with a boozy Saturday or Sunday brunch before meandering through a few neighboring retailers and happy hours notable for seasonal specials, limited time availability, fantastic deals, recent openings, or new shipments.

Let's cut through the February blahs with sale shopping and an on-foot booze-cruise through Greenpoint and Williamsburg. Brunch this weekend: The Habitat. A relative newbie, the bar-restaurant offers a $15 brunch that includes a plate, a coffee or tea and a cocktail—we recommend the build-your-own Bloody Mary bar. All those pickley snacks are a real picker-upper; so are the eggy, hash-topped BLT and the signature cheese grits. After another visit or two to that Bloody bar, it's time to move on to the shopping.

Greater Williamsburg is full of sales right now—here are the highlights. Start near brunch in Greenpoint proper for big sales at Hayden-Harnett and In God We Trust. At the former, score up to 80% off current and past bags, accessories, and clothing from the well-loved and local purveyor of handmade leather. The brand will even have their recent Disney (what?) collaborations on offer at steep discounts. At the latter, discover 50% off the shop's private label wares, plus up to 80% off jewelry. As an added bonus, there are big discounts on the shop's other stock from independent designer labels like Dusen Dusen and Marais USA.

Dalaga is also offering discounts on some cold-weather gear (which, despite today's balmy weather, you'll be needing again sooner rather than later). Check ongoing discounts of 20 to 60% off the shop's very-Brooklyn array of outerwear, boots, sweaters and winter accessories.

As you head southwest towards Williamsburg, bikers should take note: Outlier, purveyors of highly-functional, super-durable and actually-wearable (off a bike, that is) bicycle gear, is having a big, big sale. Prices across the board start today at $80, and will get marked-down each subsequent day through President's Day, to $20. That said, maybe the bicyclists among you should do your Drunk Shopping on Sunday.

Finally, in Williamsburg proper, dip into Jumelle. The sweet, womenswear boutique carries brands like Alexander Wang, Isabel Marant, Rachel Comey, Mayle, Dieppa Restrepo, A Detacher, Bodkin and others—and this weekend you can score up to 75% off past and present pieces.

After all that saving, you really ought to get back to drinking. We like Mug's Alehouse, just a few blocks back on Bedford Avenue. The spot has a glut of crazy beers on offer, plus great pub food and an almost all-day happy hour starting at 2pm that promises discounts off drinks across the board.

Enjoy! And please do share your Drunk Shopping tips, tales, and war stories in the comments!
