Chelsea's Nasty Pig Celebrates Valentine's Day In Its Own Unique Way

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Just because Chelsea fetish boutique Nasty Pig specializes in bondage harnesses and rubber sex pants doesn't mean it doesn't have a soft spot for holiday-themed windows. The store celebrated Christmas with an S&M Santa and Rudolph, but for Valentine's Day, window stylist Polar Buranasatit took things in an even stranger direction, creating a display tells the story of "a rugged lumberjack and an eager plant biologist who is looking for rare wild mushrooms and love."

But can a man who studies plants truly be happy with a man who chops them down? In the end, our lovers meet by a tree stump surrounded by extremely NSFW mushrooms. It's a moving vignette about love overcoming differences, and also about jock straps. And in a final inspired touch, it's made almost entirely out of reclaimed and recyclable material—surely the lovestruck biologist would approve.
