Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Flash bulbs are the drug of choice during New York Fashion Week, for everyone from the models to the editors to the random passers-by outside the shows. Thus, there is much dressing for the camera, hoping that a lens focuses on the flamboyance. Each day during NYFW, we'll bring you the most obvious photog bait, as snapped by us.
Dear PETA, if you'd really like to protest against those who love and wear fur, there's plenty of targets both inside and outside the Fashion Week tents. Take for instance this regular, whom we have affectionately named "Mountain Man." He appears on the weekends outside the tents?we even remember him from the Bryant Park days?and his only desire is to be photographed. And oh boy is he ever.
Fashion Week being semiannual, show-goers seem to love to use February's events as an excuse to show off their most monochromatic fur-filled ensembles. We've followed many abominable snow-women and borderline Yetis into the tents already, and we're only a few days in.
Unfortunately we don't have more information on Mr. Mountain Man, but we'd put money on the fact that he'll show up again exactly a year from now, wearing that same outfit, when February Fashion Week returns. Oh?and does he remind you of anyone else?
