Photog Bait of the Day: The Mask Makes the Man

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Flash bulbs are the drug of choice during New York Fashion Week, for everyone from the models to the editors to the random passers-by outside the shows. Thus, there is much dressing for the camera, hoping that a lens focuses on the flamboyance. Each day during NYFW, we'll bring you the most obvious photog bait, as snapped by us.

When we saw the mask, we knew this couple were just asking to be photographed. Spotted in tents just before last night's Cynthia Rowley show, this anonymous duo were accessorizing the DIY way, putting all their faith fingerless gloves and the aforementioned mask to set themselves apart.

Believe it or not, aside from more giant fur headwear on showgoers, these were just about the most outlandish outfits of the eve. It was Friday night, after all; the more colorful characters probably have other things to do than stand around waiting to be shot by a street style photog.
