Is the Rebecca Taylor Cocktail at the Empire Hotel Any Good?

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

It's cocktail hour at the Fashion Week tents at Lincoln Center, and this being a Saturday, it's beyond packed. Therefore, if you're headed to any shows tonight or if you just like the idea of being near the energy of Fashion Week, you may wish to venture across the street to the Empire Hotel, which has released a special list of 8 fashion-themed drinks just for these next several days.

We first talked about it earlier last week, and it seems the hotel has been doing a brisk business as we when we stopped by Thursday night, the lobby bar was bustling. You may have to pay for these drinks unlike the free Kim Crawford wine in the tents, but it's worth it for the ability to sit down, be warm, and not be forced into small talk with someone wearing a gold spray-painted erector set construction as a hat.

We plonked down $15 plus tip for "Rebecca's Royale Empire," a concoction of St. Germain, Raspberry Massenez, Champagne, and raspberries to garnish. We're happy to report that while it's appropriately girly, it was probably one of the least interesting cocktails on the menu. Instead, we'd recommend the "Thanks, It's Vintage," with Makers Mark, Sweet Vermouth, Pomegranate Molasses (!!) and Cherry Bitters. Check out the full menu here and watch out for the traveling businessmen at the bar, whom we overheard being really vocal about loving the "scenery" this time of the year.
