Update 02/12: We've seen inside the store! Spoiler alert here.

The opening of the first-ever freestanding Alexander Wang boutique is right around the corner, according to fashion world buzz and—more helpfully—workers on site. Although there is still plenty of work to be done at the 103 Grand Street location, all signs point to an opening next week, just in time for the end of Fashion Week. At the moment the windows are secretively papered up, which only adds to the hype surrounding the massive opening. No one at Wang's camp will confirm a date, but that hasn't stopped a constant stream of people from attempting to peer through the door.

The entrance to the new boutique is currently being guarded as FedEx shipments are brought in by the truckload and important-looking women dressed head to toe in Wang saunter in and out. Inside, we caught a glimpse of scaffolding and drill-bits, but no designer apparel as of yet. Location is prime for the new store, which, at Grand and Mercer, sits just steps away from the IF Boutique and many other hot spots on Broadway. And if Wang's recent collections are any indication, it will definitely be worth the wait.—Alexa Gordon
