Rodarte x Opening Ceremony: Expect Crowds, But Not Hordes

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Despite limited hype about the collab between Rodarte and Opening Ceremony, when doors opened at the Soho store yesterday morning, a sizable crowd came pouring in. An employee told us that the number of shoppers stayed pretty steady throughout the day (there were about ten when we went yesterday afternoon). We don't blame the crowd for lining up early. Inside OC's blue doors, you're sure to find something reasonably priced with a major resemblance to the Mulleavy sisters' own line.

Standouts included the outfit on a prominently displayed male mannequin: A black leather bomber jacket ($2060) paired with a floral printed button-up shirt ($255) and a pair of black pin-tuck pants ($370). We also loved the spectator heels ($740) in lavendar and black suede, and multiple pairs of Roy Orbison-esque sunglasses. (Head this way for the full range of looks.)

An employee mentioned that the store will be expecting more shoppers now that Fashion Week has fully commenced, which is probably why there were about ten sales associates present in the narrow store, all asking if we needed help. We understand that the weather might leave you a bit reluctant to head outside, but the collaboration has you covered with detachable long johns—useful year-round.—Jena Glick
