Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
How much do we love What Goes Around Comes Around's West Broadway store, with its vintage Chanel, custom Converse and otherwise supremely covetable collection of other vintage pieces? So, so much. Thus it's only natural for them to jump down a couple blocks to show their in-house Collection line at the Soho Grand Hotel.
Guests in their carefully chosen, night-before-fashion-week ensembles were only too happy to grab some champagne and sink into the second floor lobby's overstuffed chairs in the dark corners, already exhausted though it's been what, like barely a day since the real festivities began?
As the Soho Grand is a moodily dark venue, we saw most of the Collection through our harsh camera flash. The bohemian influence, specifically noted as "Nordic meets Nomad" and "Gypsy-Jetsetter," basically calls for throwing on a riotous mix of textures and weights, and then accessorizing with whatever '70s-inspired scarf or hat is nearest. It's a mixed bag, sure, but it works for those who will wear it with a jaunty walk.
And gorilla arms! We can't forget the bulky fur coats that are showing for another season. Heck, it's a trend that only just hit big in Japan this last fall, so brace yourselves for more like in photo #8. And can someone please alert Victoria Beckham to the existence of the pants in photo #1?
