New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Makeup artist Nam Vo, who has lent her application skills to the editorial pages of publications like Elle and Grazia, knows the benefits of smelling good—especially when she's up close and personal with her subjects on a daily basis. To keep herself smelling fresh, she frequents Atelier Cologne, a relatively new shop in Nolita.
I recently discovered a new hot spot that opened on Elizabeth Street a few months back and it is called Atelier Cologne. Being that I am a makeup artist, I am often very close and intimate with my subjects whether they are models, celebrities, or real people. For me, it's important to always smell yummy. At Atelier Cologne, all their scents are made in France and are unisex. I can't even begin to describe how delicious they smell. Each bottle has a special poem written on it, and they even gave me a mini custom bottle with my name embossed. I can't get into the technical details of these special fragrances but all I know is that my cute sales guy Ross told me all the ins and outs—and I walked out the door with new purchases.· Atelier Cologne [Official Site]
