When Filene's Basement first announced they'd be shuttering all stores, the liquidation sale was expected to run through January. However, Mizhattan stopped by the Union Square store and found out that they'll be closing for good this Thursday. As expected, everything is now big-time on sale.
If you're looking for a really good reason to get married, here it is: The wedding gowns are now only $39. Last week, we learned that they were going for $59, but they've now been reduced to 20 bucks cheaper. As for the selection, Mizhattan says that in the Union Square store, there are only about two racks left.
As for the rest of it, merchandise is marked down between 60% to 70% off. She reports that the entire shoe section is 70% off, but that it's already been totally picked through. Designer ready to wear is also barren, but denim, on the other hand, is still plentiful—and it's all 60% off. Looking for loungewear, lingerie, and socks? All of that can be had for under $5. She also found out that it's possible things could get cheaper, as one of the employees said "to check back this Thursday" for more markdowns.
