Bergdorf's Holiday Windows Star All Creatures Great and Small

Now that all of the major department stores have revealed their holiday windows, it's time to examine them in more detail. For the next couple weeks, we'll be running galleries of key holiday displays across the city. Then, we'll hold a vote to determine the greatest Christmas windows of 2011.

• The paper window is made up of over 300 different papers in black, gray, and white.
• Polar bears steal the show in the "North Pole Garden Party" window.
• The wood window features marionettes as well as animals.
• For the "Brass Menagerie" window, Bergdorf's David Hoey used birds made by the artist Sergio Bustamante in the 1970s.
• The aquarium window is made up of mosaic tile, rhinestones, and sequins.

Reigning holiday widow champion Bergdorf Goodman starts us off with "The Carnival of the Animals." Each window contains a zoo's worth of fauna made out of specific textures, from the mosaic of the aquarium scene to the upholstery of the North Pole display.
