Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Now that all of the major department stores have revealed their holiday windows, it's time to examine them in more detail. For the next couple weeks, we'll be running galleries of key holiday displays across the city. Then, we'll hold a vote to determine the greatest Christmas windows of 2011.
Reigning holiday widow champion Bergdorf Goodman starts us off with "The Carnival of the Animals." Each window contains a zoo's worth of fauna made out of specific textures, from the mosaic of the aquarium scene to the upholstery of the North Pole display. Check out the photos above, or head to the Bergdorf blog 5th at 58th for more details.
