Strategizing J.Crew

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The Shophound has come up with a pretty solid J.Crew sample sale strategy: He says he doesn't bother, since "their in-store sales are so good." His advice: Wait for the "take 30% off already reduced sale prices" email, and says, "Usually this offer, which happens periodically and lasts for four or five days, brings you to about a 50% discount off of the retail price. Of course, if you can catch it on a re-reduction, which is pretty often, you wind up with about a 70% to 80% discount." So if lines aren't your thing, there's option #2. [The Shophound]
