Calling all LAMBIES: It's time for the L.A.M.B. and Harjuku Lovers handbag sample sale. The folks at Savvy gave us a sneak peek last night as they were setting up in their spacious new digs at the Westside Jewish Center. Trust us—they've got a great selection this time around.
You'll find a lot of L.A.M.B. purses from this season, some of which are still in the stores. There's also a good mix of "vintage" L.A.M.B. designs from previous seasons, although we didn't spot any from the earliest collections. We were most excited by the large number of really great samples. They're mixed in with the regular stock, and definitely worth keeping an eye open for.
If you're looking for a cool black leather purse, there are more designs in black this time around than we've seen at any of the previous sales. Gwen Stefani has designed more structured leather bags this season, and much to our delight, many of them found their way to the sale. Prices for the L.A.M.B. bags are the same as last time—the purses we saw ran between $75 and $175, although you'll find more bags in the $175 category than at previous sales.
If you're looking for gifts, there is good selection of L.A.M.B. wallets, in a wide variety of styles, including some samples. Prices here seem to range between $25 and $50. Harajuku Lovers fans will find lots of laptop cases, purses, knapsacks, and make-up bags, with prices running from about $10 to $35. We were particularly smitten by some clear plastic totes with Harajuku designs printed on them.
Just like at all Savvy sales, look for special surprises along the way. There will be a new shipment coming from the warehouse on Wednesday, which may include more samples. There will also be a free gift with each purchase until supplies run out (not to worry, they've got a lot of supplies.)
And when you go to pay, make sure you give your cell phone number to the staff, as there is a loyalty discount program. If you buy items on Tuesday or Wednesday, later on, they'll send you a text offering a special discount for any purchases you make on the last day of the sale, Thursday. (Keep in mind that L.A.M.B. stock goes quickly, so if you see something you love, particularly a sample, you should probably grab it right away.) Also, as this is a Savvy sale, coats, bags and purses will be checked at the door, so plan accordingly.
