It would take us days to round up every single Black Friday promotion in the city, and then it would take you days to read through the list. So instead of attempting an all-encompassing guide, we've sifted through hundreds of holiday deals and pulled out the greatest, the strangest, and the ones with the best random perks—basically, the most noteworthy. Here now, ten Black Friday events you need to know about.
.) Kate Spade's colorful cabs. Not only has the preppy label wrapped New York City cabs in their holiday ad campaign, but all weekend long you'll be able to get a free ride when you grab one of the branded taxis outside either the Broome Street or the Fifth Avenue location. The promotion runs Friday through Sunday from 9:30am to 5:30pm. 454 Broome Street and 135 Fifth Avenue.
.) Warby Parker's Holiday Spectacle Bazaar. Buy a pair of glasses (optical or sun-) for $95, and the company will give a pair to a person in need. The fair will also offer Christmas trees, customizable hats, and yak-delivered yurts, among other potential holiday gifts. Get more details here. 45 Grand Street.
.) Fred Perry Surplus sale. Lots of stores knock 10% or 15% off for Black Friday, but Fred Perry is taking things a step further. The British brand's Brooklyn overstock store will offer up to 70% off tees, jackets, and other merchandise, including one-off pieces and rare collectables. The sale runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. 306 Grand Street, Williamsburg.
.) Hot guys at Abercrombie and Hollister. Both Fifth Avenue flagships will feature hundreds of shirtless male employees. Need we say more? Head this way for details, by which we mean pictures. Hollister: 668 Fifth Avenue. Abercrombie & Fitch: 720 Fifth Avenue.
.) Stores with refreshments. Zara is offering 50% off plus free coffee and tea from 6am to 8am Friday. New East Village boutique Reason Outpost is offering sales of up to 50% off plus coffee and donuts early Friday morning. And By Robert James on the Lower East Side is offering $40 off regularly priced button-downs plus hot toddies on Friday and Saturday. Consult the Zara website for locations. Reason Outpost: 436 E. 9th Street. By Robert James: 74 Orchard Street.
.) Topshop's Fashion Dash. The first 100 customers through the door Friday get a prize. The first 50 customers who check into Topshop on Facebook Friday and Saturday will also win a prize. Anyone who spends $100 will get a woolen bow headband. And depending on the date, everyone gets up to 30% off certain products in-store. 478 Broadway.
.) Ann Taylor's Rockefeller Center party. A six-hour party at an Ann Taylor is an unusual occurrence at any time of day. But it gets stranger when the party runs from midnight to 6am. Go for drinks, a live DJ, raffles every hour, and lots of freebies, including the change to win a $1000 shopping spree. 600 Fifth Ave
.) Modani's big sale. This one's simple: Get up to 70% off modern furniture, including the Leaf lounge change for $190 (was $390). It's OK if you can't make it this weekend, as the sale runs through December 2. 40 E. 19 Street.
.) Buffalo Exchange: Coats for Cubs. Starting this Black Friday and running through Earth Day in April, all Buffalo Exchange stores nationwide will be collecting unwanted coats and accessories made of real fur. They'll donate them to wildlife rehabilitation centers where the furs will be used as bedding for animals. You don't get any discount or anything out of this, but you do get good karma, and potentially more room in your closet. Click through for more details plus a photo of an orphaned baby raccoon named Mr. Butterfly. All Buffalo Exchange locations.
.) 3.1 Phillip Lim's seasonal sale. No gimmicks here, just 40% off original prices on pieces like raglan sleeve jumpsuits, space-dyed sweatshirt dresses, and stove-pipe trousers, not to mention every shoe in the store and selected accessories. 115 Mercer Street.
