Social shopping startup OpenSky launched about six months ago with a concept that's a little like Svpply and a little like the Home Shopping Network. Celebrity experts in the fields of health, food, style, and design list their favorite products, and you get to follow the ones whose taste you trust. So far, it seems to be working out well: The company, which currently has 500,000 users, just raised $30 million in financing.
Now, to expand their profile off-line, they're hosting a pop-up shop at 477 Broome Street in Soho. Stop by between 10am and 8pm today through Sunday to browse holiday gifts picked by the likes of Cynthia Rowley, Padma Lakshmi, and Kelly Bensimon. On Saturday, OpenSky will donate $5 to charity for every visitor, and another $5 when each visitor makes a purchase. What charity? Well, since OpenSky is all about curation, they've rounded up a long list, and you get to pick which ones benefit.
