It's been a while since we first heard the news that Jean-Michel Cazabat would be opening a store on Bleecker Street. The signs on the windows became very much outdated after the promised spring 2011 opening date came and went, but today WWD has the official report as to when it will finally open, as well as lots of details on the shop.
So here it is: The store will be opening Saturday at 350 Bleecker Street and will carry the entire range of the Cazabat line: women's and men's footwear and accessories, which include some pricey exotic skin handbags. And Cazabat himself is very excited: "I used to live in the West Village just two blocks away, and it's one of the best streets for fashion retail. I think it's perfect for us. People love to walk around here, and the foot traffic is very good—you can't miss the store."
You can't miss it because the store's colors are blue, red, and gold—just like the shoe boxes, and also, just like Cazabat's house. He explains to WWD that, similar to the new store, all of the seating areas in his house are red, and adds, "I want the customer to feel like they are in the 'Jean Mi' [the designer's nickname] universe—like they are coming into my house." Well, after about seven months of waiting, it's nice to finally get the invitation to come inside.
