In this week's edition of Critical Shopper, Jon Caramanica headed over to Gant Rugger on Prince Street. He makes a quick comparison to nearby RRL, but says, "Luckily for Rugger, though, RRL is having a Montana moment, with beaten-up denim, waxed jackets and heavy sweaters, which leaves the rakish pseudo-prep lane uncrowded." He's also pretty tired of plaid ("It is time to annihilate plaid"), which he naturally found a lot of at the store. But here's something he didn't expect to find: "Finally, you like dickeys? There's a thick ribbed white turtleneck version ($78) right on the table as you walk in. Buy one, and you won't be copying anybody." [NYT]
