Dubai already has its own Shake Shack, but this fall it's getting a little bit more of our fair city thanks to Bloomingdale's New York campaign in the Dubai Mall. The department store's sole international location will spend the next six weeks or so staging New York-centric fashion shows and promoting New York designers, among them Catherine Malandrino, Elie Tahari, Alice + Olivia, DKNY, John Varvatos, and Rag & Bone. Shoppers can enter to win free trips to Manhattan, or just play tourist in pop-up shops inspired by Times Square and the New York Yankees. (Yes, Yankee Stadium hot dogs are available.)
Women's Wear Daily points out that similar exhibitions based on products from China, France and Italy were popular in American stores in the '70s and '80s. They're now considered passé, but the concept still feels new in Dubai, which didn't have a Bloomingdale's until early 2010.
