Joe Fresh has officially crossed the Canadian border in style. The brand's new Madison Avenue pop-up shop is adorned with alternating white and orange walls with quotes about the color orange and—what else?—being fresh. When we stopped by the store early this afternoon, we noticed the two keys to pop-up success: Friendly, attentive salespeople and surprisingly affordable, cute basics.
The women's section occupies most of the bottom floor and all of the top floor. Among the women's racks, we spotted a polyester bomber-esque jacket with faux fur lining for $69, a plain gray turtle neck sweater for $19, skinny jeans for $39, and boot-cut jeans for $49. An adorable gray wool-blend coat with an orange collar and green pocket detailing for $149 must have been extremely popular because there were only two left when we arrived. We also liked a gray wool-blend pencil skirt with zipper detailing for $69.
Shoes were far more sparse but we were smitten with a pair of gold oxfords for $79 and pointy faux-suede bow flats for $39. As for the men's section, it was fairly small, located off to the side on the bottom floor. There, cashmere sweaters are a big hit. In general, the store seems to be doing well on its first day in the States—we saw countless customers walking out of the store with big orange bags.—Katherine Park
