The Wall Street Journal considers landlords who let prime real estate sit empty for months or even years. Take the large retail space inside 9 W.57th Street, across the street from the Plaza Hotel. According to rumor, British department store Harrods and Equinox have both considered the spot, which is also where onetime tenant Nine West got its name.
