Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
MIDTOWN—Last week, Ted Baker opened a menswear shop in Bloomingdale's Soho (above), and next week they're launching an 800-square-foot women's equivalent in the 59th Street store. On Thursday, November 3, Nigel Barker is hosting a launch party with a sneak preview of his documentary on Haiti, Dreams Are Not Forgotten. (Yup: While the rest of us were sitting on our couches watching America's Next Top Model, Nigel Barker was busy making a documentary about Haiti.) 10% of proceeds from the event will benefit non-profit Edeyo, which works with Haitian youth. And if you spend $150 or more, you'll get a free gift and your picture with Nigel. [RackedWire]
EVERYWHERE—Richie Rich designed a Svedka Vodka robot costume for Ricky's, and it's been popping up on reality show types all over the place. It also appeared in our office, where we spent the week trying to find someone willing to try it on. Finally, today, Racked NY intern Danielle Desmond said she was up for the challenge. Her review: It's actually a lot less clingy than it looks. And it might not be bad in the snow tomorrow. Get it for $40 on the Ricky's website. [The Frisky; Ricky's]
