Neither rain nor massive lines could deter YSL fans from attending the French brand's warehouse sale today. Nearly every single attendee walked out of the sale with at least one large brown bag full of designer goodies.
Though most of the merchandise was from past seasons, the sale was clearly a hit. For the most part, prices dropped by 50% since yesterday, and shoes seemed to be the most popular ticketed item.
We didn't see any Tributes when we got there, but we spotted more than a handful of satin jewel-toned pumps and those highly-coveted color-block stacked-heel espadrille sandals from Resort 2011 in various sizes. (They were selling pretty quickly, though.) Salespeople assured attendees that they'd be restocking items soon but did not provide specific details on what and when.
Women's shoe prices were a complete steal, ranging from $50 for flats (ballerina and sandals) and $100 for high heels (pumps and sandals) to $200 for Tribute Too pumps and sandals and $350 for boots (ankle and knee). All men's shoes (which had a terribly small selection) are now $150.
Among endless racks of trousers (in cream, army green, tan, etc) for $75, we spotted a sparse selection of jackets for $175, dresses for $175, coats for $275, blouses for $75, and sweaters for $125. Tops went for $50, tanks and t-shirts $37.50, and evening dresses and gowns were 50% off marked prices. Leather/suede was also 50% off, and we spotted a chic leather trench for $779.50. We didn't see any swimwear or denim, which were $25 and $50 respectively, according to a sign, but it's possible we could have overlooked them in the shuffle.
All menswear went for $50, but the selection of suits and shirts did not seem all too stellar.
Handbags and luggage ranged from $300 to $700, and we spotted some adorable satin teal clutches, among a handful of random leather bags of different sizes, left. Leather accessories and scarves are $50, in addition to belts. (Also, if you buy two belts, you get a third for free.)
For fans of the brand with a lower budget range, the sale had fragrances for $10 (not too many left), sunglasses for $50 (buy two get one free), necklaces for $50, bracelets for $75, rings for $15, earrings for $50, and pins for $5.—Katherine Park
