Monika Chiang is dating Christopher Burch, and he's also backing her clothing line, so maybe it's no surprise that she's rented a 1,450-square-foot shop not far away from his new space C. Wonder. The store will open at 72 Spring Street next spring as a home for Chiang's spiky heels and womenswear. In the meantime, Chiang plans to offer the neighborhood a glimpse of her line with a pop-up shop at 136 Prince Street.
When Chiang opened in LA earlier this month, our sister site wondered if her clothes had much in common with those designed by her boyfriend's ex, Tory Burch. The answer turns out to be complicated: On first glimpse, Chiang's label looks like it's all about sharp edges and post-punk luxe. But the closer you look, the preppier it gets. Just don't expect a lot of orange.
