Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Till 3pm, boutique-on-wheels The Fashion Truck will be parked at Bryant Park in celebration of the Racked Awards. Early customers get Rent the Runway gift cards, and everyone gets the chance to shop cute pieces for under $100. Check out the liveblog from this morning here, or follow along below as Racked's Payton Wang reports from the scene.
1:25pm: Greetings from the Fashion Truck! So far, the best passerby's commentary has been "This is so cool. It's like a store—but it moves!"
1:34pm: Right now there's a packed house. That's what happens when six patrons climb into the truck at once.
1:40pm: I asked current patron and cocktail ring fan Maria for her favorite store. She doesn't have one, but she does love a good flea market.
1:48pm: The hooded jersey wrap above is the hot item of the half hour. We've sold three!
1:57pm: Elmo just walked by, but like a true New Yorker, he refused to acknowledge anything curious going on around him.
2:01pm: Olga and Denee, jewelers from Delaware, are loving some wraps.
2:23pm: The Fashion Truck just got some Conde Nast love. Former Racked National editor Danica Lo made a stop on her way back to the Glamour offices.
2:32pm: Fashion Trucker Michelle is serenading customers to Rihanna's "We Found Love." She's rewording it as "We found sales," of course.
2:41pm: The Fashion Truck girls have been gifted an evil eye charm by a random shopper.
2:45pm: The customer gave them the charm because they were complaining about how hard it is to operating the truck on the streets of NY. (She'd just gotten back from Jerusalem.)
2:58pm: Dedicated Racked reader and Fashion Truck shopper Angela is channeling Isabella Blow with some fancy headgear.
3:03pm: It's starting to get late on the Avenue of the Americas, and the Fashion Truck is officially closing its industrial double doors. Thanks to everyone who stopped by.
