Announcing the 2011 Racked Awards Winners for NYC

New, 1 comment

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Gather 'round, fashion boys and girls! It is now time to announce the winners of the first annual Racked Awards. These 100 nominees represent the industry's biggest players—the smartest, the chic-est, the dreamiest, the most creative, and the most fun designers, stores, and shopping experiences around these five boroughs and beyond. We applaud them. You spend money with them. Everyone loves them. They should and will be showered with glory.

But before we list the honorees, let's attend to a bit of business. We have two different types of prizes to give out today: The reader awards, which were voted on by you and your fellow shoppers, and the staff awards, which were determined by a highly selective cabal of Racked insiders in our secret mountain holdfast high above the Bowery. Reader awards for New York were comprised of five major categories: Store of the Year, Menswear Store of the Year, Best New Store, Best Brooklyn Store, and Most Mindblowing Shoe Selection. As for the other awards, they're a little more specific and possibly a little more quirky. We'll include them all after the jump.

Nominees and winners alike will be feted at a party tonight in the Meatpacking District. Those winners who couldn't make it should watch their mail for packages containing the coveted Golden Turban. And now, without further ado, the winners in New York.
