New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic city that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Marissa Evans is the woman behind Go Try It On, a website based in NYC where individuals post photos of themselves for instant feedback about their sartorial choices. Since she travels to work by foot everyday, Evans loves a little-known place in Queens that houses classic, walkable shoes.
Why Eric's Shoes? Well, I walk to work and need to have utility when it comes to shoes. That said, chic shoes are by far my favorite piece of an outfit. I recently discovered Eric's Shoes and fell in love instantly with his selection of goods. His shoes are all versatile, androgynous and gorgeous. The array of leather boots, feminine heels and classic oxfords make up the store. The merchandise is what makes this spot special. It's the type of place that makes you feel like there's a story behind each pair of shoes. A worn-in, comfortable feeling that connects you with each item.
My business allows me to connect with women all over the world about fashion and special personal treasures, and a spot like Eric's Shoes has a bit of that vibe about it. It' a place where you discover something new, but makes you feel a bit more like yourself.· Eric's Shoes [Official Site]
