Barbour Re-Opens in Soho with a Tribute to Steve McQueen

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Barbour's temporary space in Soho recently reopened as a permanent shop after a build-out and renovations. Now, it's fully stocked with the century-old British brand's rugged outerwear, as well as the new Steve McQueen collection. Barbour has even brought in McQueen's son, race car driver Chad McQueen, as a spokesman for the collection.

McQueen says his dad wasn't obsessed with fashion, despite his legendary style. (He did wear Barbour, though, hence the new line.) And how would he have fared in today's blog-saturated menswear world? Would he have spent hours on the Internet? Says Chad: "He would definitely be forging his own path. He wasn't big on reading unless a script was involved."
