In today's Style section, Sarah McNally, owner of Nolita bookstore McNally Jackson, casually explains that she might have psychic powers. After college, McNally wandered around Africa until she wound up on a remote island in Lake Malawi. Then: “I guess I had a nervous breakdown. So people took me to a magical healer who gave me roots to drink. He said my gift for clairvoyance would be realized.” Sadly, it never revealed itself. “But maybe that was because I didn’t take the roots religiously.” [NYT]
