Conde Nast has picked French Vogue fashion director Emmanuelle Alt as its next editor-in-chief. Alt fills the void left when previous EIC Carine Roitfeld, known for stunts like putting children in couture, abruptly announced that she was stepping down. As a longtime presence on the Vogue masthead (she was actually recruited a few months before Roitfeld in 2000), Alt should be able to handle the takeover with minimal drama—which is actually kind of a shame, because drama is what we've come to expect from Vogue Paris.
