If you notice that Fifth Avenue's J.Crew is closed this weekend, don't be alarmed—it's not a sign that Urban Outfitters or Sears has successfully taken over the brand. January is makeover season for the brand, which just announced that the Flatiron store will shutter on Saturday and remain closed through the end of February while its interior undergoes a major renovation. When it reopens, the women's section will be bigger, the men's section will have its own new third floor home, and there will be new space for Crewcuts, J.Crew's line for kids.
