The team at GQ has just revealed the finalists for their Best New Menswear Designers in America competition, a dudes-only challenge that is now in its fourth season. This year, we've got a mix of new-comers and a few designers who you would have thought would have been nominated in seasons past: Alexander Wang for his T by Alexander Wang empire, Patrik Ervell, Kirk Miller of Miller's Oath (which also happens to be Todd Selby's recent pick for Shopping Confidential), Rick Klotz of Warriors of Radness, new-comers Kand Joe Sadler, Derek Buse, and Greg Ullery of Riviera Club, and crowd favorite Michael Bastian for his impeccable Gant collection.
All finalists are required to create a limited-edition look inspired by contest sponsor Dockers, which will be sold at Bloomingdale's stores in the fall. And they'll all receive a trifecta of mentoring teams, in collaboration with GQ, the CFDA, and Bloomingdale's. And what would be the best place to showcase the kings of cool and their limited-edition Dockers-inspired collection? The Ace Hotel, of course, with an event taking place February 10. The lucky winner will receive a $50K cash prize. Last year, the honor went to Billy Reid, so these boys have big shoes to fill.
