The surprisingly massive, soon-to-open first Alexander Wang store occupying the corner of Grand and Mercer in SoHo is still shrouded in mystery. The outside has been looking finished since September, but the men working inside are being pretty tight-lipped about opening date rumors. Nevertheless, we did our best to wiggle in and caught a quick glimpse of an interior completely under construction. The windows may be limousine blacked-out, but the inside is still all wood—something we don't really think of as Wang's style.
We hear Wang will open the doors during Fashion Week. And since topping his party from the Spring/Summer 2011 show—a carnival under the High Line, complete with a carousel and bumper cars—will be pretty hard to do, it only makes sense that this year, he throw it in his brand, spankin' new store.—Tiffany Yannetta
