Lucky Brand Jeans Shuttered Its Columbus Avenue Outpost

In the latest closings news, earlier this week the Lucky Brand Jeans shop on the corner of Columbus and 70th Street shut its doors. The shop has been a neighborhood mainstay for over half a decade, but today, we observed the ominous metal gates down and a cleared-out space inside. The brand reported disappointing profits in the last quarter of 2010, so this could be a move by parent company Liz Claiborne to trim down.

Lucky Brand fans can find consolation in the remaining five Manhattan locations (side note: Are three Soho locations really necessary?) and Upper West Siders jonesing for pricey jeans can always hit the Paige Premium Denim up the street. We're hoping that the prime corner space, next to Intermix and across from Club Monaco and Space NK, won't stay empty for too long.
