New York City has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some of the city's shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around our fantastic island (and beyond) that we might not all know about. Cue The Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.


The Neue Galerie via Williamsport

Next up is Ashley Baker, Executive Editor of The Daily, the up-to-the-minute bible of all things fashion. She has also recently co-founded line of luscious leather goods titled Sedgwick. Her favorite under-appreciated store: The Neue Galerie museum shop.

"I live a few blocks away from the Neue Galerie, so Café Sabarsky has become a regular lunch spot. But even though I intend to stop indulging after schnitzel and sacher torte, I'm totally weak when it comes to resisting the many charms of the museum's Design Shop. It's curated thoughtfully enough to include Estee Lauder's limited edition Berlin Red lipstick ($30), inspired by Otto Dix's 1920s paintings, alongside Josef Hoffmann's sublime glass service for Lobmeyr."—Yale Breslin
