Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

JillAnne, the only Lower East Side card shop offering complimentary pole dances, has shuttered. Single-monikered owner JillAnne earned press for her store last month with her unusual business plan, which included a stripper pole in the middle of her shop and a free dance for anyone who bought $50 worth of stationery. She explains to Bowery Boogie that she'd always intended the space as an experiment and that after a few months, the trial period has simply ended. But she's keeping the business alive with her online wholesale business—and she's keeping the pole, too.
