Welcome to Pimp Your Product, a brand-new feature in which we ask retailers to tell us about their favorite current items according to a weekly theme. Want us to harness the collective power of NYC's shopkeepers to solve your own sartorial problems? Suggest a topic at email@example.com.
Last week, we asked five retailers around the city to recommend one item you must have in order to survive the winter. But then nine more inches of snow fell on New York, and even though it's not an official snowmergency, we thought it might be reasonable to do an update. Here's an additional five key winter items from a selection of our favorite stores. Stay warm out there, folks.
Name: Cuan Hanly
Store: Jack Spade
Address: 56 Greene Street
Item: Mackintosh Coat
Why: "The Jack Spade Kellas is in a heavyweight rubberized cotton canvas with a slightly casual shape. Rain, sleet, or snow—this Mackintosh x Jack Spade collaborative coat is detailed with a detachable hood, adjustable cuffs, slanted front pockets with flaps, underarm vents, corduroy collar & buttoned vents at back. What more could you want?"
Name: Nora Beckman
Addresses: 203 Grand Street in Williamsburg, 220 Smith Street in Cobble Hill, and 316 Fifth Avenue in Park Slope
Item: Alexander Wang Ribbed Merino Button Scarf
Why: "We're smitten with this season's reinterpretation of the scarf that buttons rather than wraps and even boasts two pockets to quickly stash cards and such. We're a sucker for pockets at Bird."

Why: "Because nothing keeps you warmer than fur."
Name: Adam Lippes

Address: 31 Crosby Street
Item: Barkley Sound Box Duffle
Why: "A perfect way to carry your belongings completely protected from the grueling NYC winter weather!"
