Buying property near the High Line may have been the smartest decision the landlords of the Meatpacking District ever made. The Real Deal reports that the neighborhood has bounced back from a recessionary real estate slump thanks to the above-ground park, which has attracted foot traffic and tourist dollars as easily as the neighborhood's meat warehouses used to attract flies.
Bond No. 9 recently announced that they'll be opening a boutique in the area, Sephora is set to open this spring, and brokers say plenty of other major retailers are looking for space. The big names teased in the article: Michael Kors and British beauty chain Space NK, both of which are reportedly close to signing leases.
