Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
EVERYWHERE—Twenty-four hours after the dust has settled, everyone's stopped pretending that Simon Doonan's "promotion" is really a step up. Racked writer Frank Gargione gives Barneys a piece of his mind in today's Love, Frank column over on our sister site, concluding "So help us if this whole 'let's make Barneys viable and profitable' thing turns our favorite department store into a Saks Fifth Avenue." PROSPECT HEIGHTS—The Commercial Observer reports that Apple has been chatting with Forest City Ratner about potentially leasing a space at the Atlantic Yards project. "It's the only place in Brooklyn that's super visible, close to trains and about as close as you can get to a 24-hour community in the borough," explains their source, presumably because he's never been there.
