Is the end of the era of the inexplicable lines on Bleecker Street? God, let's hope so as the cheap stuff-filled Marc by Marc Jacobs Accessories shop closes for a brief transformation into something that doesn't count $7 PVC keychains as a top seller: a Marc Jacobs Collection Accessories store.
Actually, it's just returning to its roots, since this is what it used to before the $14 metallic clutches and $30 T-shirts moved in. In their place, $1,300+ Stam bags and $400 cashmere scarves will reign anew, just in time for the holiday shopping season.
Don't cry into your Magnolia cupcakes over the loss of the cheap Accessories store, however, since those items will be spread out around the other MJ Bleecker Street boutiques. Already we've spied the key chains, totes and compact mirrors at the freshly opened Bookmarc. Looking for more? Try Marc by Marc Women at 403 Bleecker or Marc by Marc Mens Accessories at 298 West 4th Street.
The new Collection Accessories store will open on Tuesday, September 7, when everyone returns from the long Labor Day weekend.
