Unless you're Rumi or Tavi, running a personal fashion blog generally pays more in satisfaction than it does in actual salary. And even for the big names, the payoff comes from endorsements and ad campaigns—opportunities that come from blogging, sure, but that wind up being kind of peripheral to the actual blog. That's what makes the Sunglass Hut blogger promotion so noteworthy. The brand is offering a salary of $100,000, a Manhattan apartment (complete with furniture), and a $1000 monthly styling allowance to whoever wins their Full Time Fabulous contest. Also, your job is to go to fashion shows and parties, and you get to tell people your boss is Sunglass Hut "style director" Rachel Bilson.
To enter, register at the website, where you'll eventually be prompted to submit a video explaining why you deserve the job. A panel of judges will pick their nine favorite videos, while the public will vote on a tenth. Starting in December, the ten finalists will compete in a "blog-off," and the winner will be picked in mid-January, just in time to get ready for NYFW in February. OK, so it might not be the most wildly realistic way to kick off a career as a writer, but it's definitely less expensive than journalism school.
