Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

There now seems to be a third way to get a store credit on Gilt Groupe besides inviting a friend or returning a purchase—getting screwed out of your money. A Racked reader tipped off our sister site that Gilt upped the price of her purchases by $10 after she picked them out, and apparently, it ain't no glitch. Customers keep coming forward with stories about being charged more without reason, and their bad experiences with customer service when they fought it. Gilt claims that the price discrepancy of charging things like $49 for a $39 sweater was a snag in the system that is currently being fixed, but instead of adjusting the different back onto their credit card, they're giving the difference as a store credit. Stay tuned, as this is bound to be more exciting than pretending to do work until 1pm. [Racked]
