Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Among the most exciting of the approximately eight billion things happening on Fashion's Night Out is the reopening of Chanel's Spring Street boutique, which has been closed since April for renovations. As noted in today's countdown of FNO's best products, Chanel will celebrate the makeover by selling custom ballet flats and giving free manicures using their new khaki shades of nail polish, meaning that it's safe to assume nobody's going to get a peaceful glimpse of the new store until Saturday morning. If you'd like a preview, though, head to the Chanel Soho website, which published a rendering of the new space. Best detail: The ten-foot-plus bottle of Chanel No. 5, which displays video art and runway shows.
