Tomorrow morning at 8:30am, the Verizon store on 34th Street between Sixth and Seventh is going to be swarming with Star Wars fans, actors dressed as Star Wars characters, and—at least based on everything we know about nerds—Star Wars fans dressed as Star Wars characters. Why? Because tomorrow marks the launch of Verizon's very limited-edition R2D2-themed Droid phone.
The device, which is technically (and hilariously) known as the DROID™ R2D2™ Star Wars™: The Empire Strikes Back™ Special Edition phone, comes decorated with R2-style decals and makes R2-esque noises. If you can't make it to 34th Street tomorrow but still desperately want a Droid of your own, check out the special release website, where you might be able to win one as a prize. The intro has text receding into deep space just like the beginning of the movies—that's the level of commitment we're talking about here, people. Head over here for more details.
