Spike Jonze, director of Where the Wild Things Are, Being John Malkovich, and about a billion music videos, appears at Opening Ceremony from 6pm to 8pm tonight. According to O.C.'s flier, he'll be doing "a very special Q&A and signing for There Are Many of Us, a companion book to his short film I'm Here," accompanied by "live music performed by a bear!"
Now, it's obviously crazy to think that an actual wild bear will be appearing in a Soho boutique this evening. But this is Opening Ceremony we're talking about here. They're brave, they're creative, they're known for doing things in retail that never seemed possible. We are not entirely convinced that conjuring up a musical bear is beyond their powers.
When we called the store for more details, the sales associate who answered laughed nervously and referred us to PR. We're waiting on a response, but we feel like any outcome is probably a win. If it were a real bear, it would be awesome. If it were a person in a bear costume, that would be awesome too. And if it's a big burly lumberjack guy with a beard, well, that would be cool as well.
