CH Carolina Herrera is expanding faster than our midsections during the holiday season, and has recently brought that growth to Manhattan with their first New York store. Founded nine years ago, the sister company to Carolina Herrera New York will open a total 17 stores this year, including the new Upper East Side location at 807 Madison Avenue, which will be the 10th CH outpost in the country.
Designed to feel lived-in, the store's concept sounds like a version of LF for women who can afford luxury items that aren't made of glitter. Displays are constantly changed so that the store feels perpetually new, and cubbyholes around the store are filled with eveningwear, men's items, and the rest of the shop's women's offerings.
The main focus of CH is the accessories, with jewelry in a large glass display, and shoes and leather handbags in a variety of colors and sizes lining the shop's walls. Ranging from a Matryoshka purse for $495 to a crocodile bag costing $7,305, there are both indulgent high end-luxury and reliable, useful purchases up for grabs at the new shop.
The boutique opened on Fashion's Night Out, and with a couple of drinks, carrying that croc bag might have presented itself as a worthwhile reptilian investment. Good thing in-store drinking and buying isn't the norm.
