Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
If there was ever another reason to visit the behemoth Bloomingdale's on the Upper East Side instead of its tinier Soho sister, this may be it. Reiss will be opening a shop inside of the department store's 59th Street flagship location, and will offer not only its regular items, but clothing exclusives sold only through Bloomie's.
Set to be featured on Bloomingdales.com and in the store's print catalogue, the opening marks a huge step for the brand known only to some as the British store with cute shoes on Bleecker. It's another step in Reiss' big-time planned expansion, with openings overseas in Russia and the Middle East slated for next year. Also, the company is looking to branch out into various US cities, more than doubling its amount of stateside shops.
Set beside other brands on the floor such as Catherine Malandrino and Burberry Brit, Reiss has the potential to become a big household name as well. Now, we just have to sit back and hope there will be something left on the racks by the time the next huge Bloomingdale's sale hits.
