Introducing Place Pages, Discussions, and Foursquare

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Ready for some hot new Racked functionality? Introducing our brand-new, beefed-up Place Pages—essentially, home base for stores on Racked. On these pages, you'll find all the vital stats about each spot, from the joint's physical address to its Twitter home, not to mention all of Racked's news coverage of the establishment. On top of that, we've added two new features for your interactive enjoyment:

1) Discussions. We've always loved and encouraged comments on Racked, but until now, there hasn't been a way to start your own conversations or debates about a restaurant or bar. Now there is. At the top of each Place Page, such as this one for Topshop, there's a Start a Discussion link. Write up your post, click submit, and the discussion begins. Other folks can respond to your discussion just as they would in the comments of a regular Racked post. When we find particularly interesting discussions, we'll promote them to the Racked homepage.

2) Add to Foursquare. With yesterday's release of its new 2.0 edition, our friends at Foursquare have brought to-do functionality to the fore. To help build your to-dos, we've put Add to Foursquare buttons on each Place Page. Click the button, and you'll get a pop-up with Racked's tip for that venue that can be added to your Foursquare to-do list. It's a great way to remind yourself about stores you want to hit up.

Right now, you can find Place Pages via the Racked 38 or a venue search; we'll be adding many more Place Pages for restaurants in the weeks to come, and making Place Pages easier to browse. Look soon, too, for a unified home for all the user discussions starting across Racked. Fun. Now let's get interacting!
