You may have noticed that Soho has been seriously lacking on the high-end designer ski-wear front. Yes, D&G's F/W 2010 collection was filled with alpine-inspired knitwear, but not one boutique offers glamorous yet high-performance sartorial choices for those actually looking to hit the slopes. That is, until now. Quintessential designer ski-wear brand Moncler opened a new Soho boutique on Fashion's Night Out, and affluent snowbirds can now breath a sigh of relief.
The inside of the store resembles a luxurious ski lodge, complete with decorative logs, tree stumps and paintings of snow-covered pine trees. The atmosphere is cold—not in an uninviting way, but in a way where you wished you had brought a sweater, which is perfect for those wanting to try on the brand's extensive selection of beautiful down jackets, ski pants and fur-trimmed boots. Can't decide which sweater to pair with your puffer? Moncler's visual merchandising team helps you out with beautifully dressed mannequins at every corner offering creative takes on each color story.
The store not only offers ski-wear but also options for those who love the alpine look but don't like to travel above sea level, like city-ready fur hats, stoles and chic leather gloves. They've also got some down boots that look like they could easily navigate the next NYC Blizzard. Moncler is located on Prince between Broadway and Mercer—if you plan to brave the elements in style this winter, this would be the place to start.—Molly Vu
